Thursday, June 21, 2012 Daily Update

It appears that Twitter is having a major outage today. This is the first time in a long time I’ve seen it completely down like this and for so long. I’m always amused when there are issues on Twitter that my Facebook news feed is full of status updates with people asking if Twitter is down or is it just them.

I remember in earlier times on Twitter, outages happened quite frequently. Monday mornings seemed to be a troublesome time as they dealt with growth. Major events represented another bad time. I was much more active on Twitter then than I am now. I used to look at it and say – oh good, I won’t miss anything and can focus on work.

It’s interesting times we live in where a social network going down can cause such a buzz and seem to promote anxiety for many people.

Update on “Free”

My post “7 Reasons Why I Can’t Do Free” continues to draw a lot of attention, sharing and comments. It’s fascinating to see how a single blog post can take on a life of it’s own.

Yesterday I rolled out my “Converting Free to Paid” webinar series. So far, 11 people have signed up for it – most of who have contacted me directly to say this is just what they needed right now. I’m really looking forward to the training getting started!

I mentioned on Facebook that 2 new people have joined my team – partly to assist with this program. Nakeva Corothers will be helping with guiding the Facebook community. I’ll be sharing official introductions in the next week.

Introducing a program like this so quickly resulted in over a dozen people ask me questions on that. I’ve had a few people tell – they weren’t interested in the “Converting Free to Paid” program, but they’d be all over training on how to put together a product/commoditized training like this so quickly. I’m working on something to address this, but with a few major launches around the corner, it won’t be introduced for a couple more weeks.

Plural Vs Singular Domains?

Steve Jones, my partner at Domainate, wrote an excellent post about whether it is better to have a plural or singular generic domain. One of the issues is that search is typically substantially higher for singular versus plural terms, but plural generally reads better as a domain name. Check the post out.

Have a fabulous day friends!

xoxo
